Ever wonder where the name came from for Enterprise? Enterprise was founded by Jack C. Taylor. Originally “Executive Leasing Service” the business idea was to provide temporary vehicles for businesses whose vehicles were in the shop being repaired.
Taylor decided to rename the business after an Aircraft Carrier he served on during World War II. During the war Jack was a F6F Hellcat Pilot.
It is interesting to note that Jack also served on the USS Essex. The name could have easily been “Essex Car Rental” instead.
